Start with furniture clearance and the dock

Quick answer: Our documentation-based shortlist is the eufy Auto-Empty C10 for low furniture and dry cleaning, Roborock Q7 M5+ for mapped vacuuming with a bagged dock, and eufy Omni C20 for a home that also needs spinning-mop care. These are different use-case choices, not a laboratory performance ranking.

For an apartment with a shedding pet, a robot earns its space by making routine floor pickup easy. It still needs a clear route, brush cleaning and a place to dock. If the station blocks a walkway or the robot cannot get beneath the sofa, a larger feature list will not fix the mismatch. Keep a separate vacuum for stairs, upholstery and areas the robot cannot reach.

How we selected these models

We checked official US product and support pages on October 27, 2026. Selection favors identifiable current models, documented navigation, hair-maintenance features and a useful reason to choose one over another. No hands-on testing was performed. We did not measure carpet pickup, noise, battery endurance, obstacle recognition or dock reliability.

We excluded the discontinued eufy L60 series as a lead new-purchase recommendation. The older Roborock Q5 DuoRoller+ manufacturer listing showed sold-out status, so it is not our default recommendation either. Availability must be checked again at release. Amazon buttons are exact-model searches, not confirmation of stock or an endorsed seller. Match the name, dock bundle, condition, warranty and return terms before ordering.

eufy Auto-Empty C10: for low furniture and dry floors

The official page lists a 2.85-inch body, a three-litre dock bag and no mop. It describes point-laser and infrared navigation, plus a hair-detangling comb. We would choose it when the space beneath furniture is the main constraint and washing floors is already handled another way.

Measure your lowest crossbar, not only the sofa edge, and leave clearance rather than buying to an exact nominal height. The manufacturer asks owners to remove wires, toys and clothing and to secure rug edges. Those instructions matter more than a general obstacle-avoidance marketing label. A low body does not promise safe travel beneath every chair or a clean pass over every rug.

Skip it when: you need automated mop care, or frequently leave small objects on the floor. Pet-hair suitability on a product page is not evidence that long hair never wraps around the roller.

Roborock Q7 M5+: for mapped daily vacuuming

Roborock lists PreciSense LiDAR, a dual anti-tangle system and an auto-empty dock for this exact plus bundle. Its US store offered an add-to-cart control at our check. Our reason to shortlist it is a documented combination of mapping and hair-management features; its advertised suction specification is not proof that it cleans better than every alternative.

Choose it if you want planned room cleaning and can give a bagged dock permanent floor space. Check the manual for robot height, station clearance and local Wi-Fi requirements before buying. Do not assume every Q7 model, regional suffix or non-plus package includes the same dock.

Skip it when: the purchase is mainly about automatic mop washing. A drag-pad mop and a wash station solve different jobs. Replacement bags, filters and side brushes were linked from the official model page, but match compatibility to the exact model rather than the series name.

eufy Omni C20: for hard-floor homes that also need mopping

The Omni C20 includes an all-in-one station, spinning mop pads and a detangling comb. eufy lists a 3.35-inch body and describes mop drying with room-temperature air. We would consider it when recurring hard-floor mopping justifies filling and emptying tanks and washing the station tray.

A combination model is not automatically the better apartment choice. Put a cardboard footprint where the station will stand, then check room to lift tanks and remove the tray. Verify floor-maker approval before wet cleaning. Use the model's carpet restrictions and mop settings; a lifting pad does not guarantee that every rug stays dry.

Skip it when: nearly all flooring is carpet or you will not maintain the water system. Automated pad washing changes where cleaning happens; it does not eliminate dirty water or routine inspection.

A practical pet-home routine

  1. Before each run, check for pet accidents, liquids, cords and small toys. Do not treat mapping as a pet-waste guarantee.
  2. Start with supervised cleaning while your pet can retreat to a quiet room. Schedule emptying away from naps or calls if possible; we have not measured noise.
  3. Inspect roller ends, wheels and the air path regularly. Hair can collect outside the obvious brush surface.
  4. Check the bag and filter more often during shedding season. Advertised multi-week emptying intervals are conditional, not a schedule for your home.
  5. Use the manufacturer's cleaning instructions. Let washable parts dry fully when instructed before reassembly.

Your five-minute apartment fit check

Write down the narrowest passage, lowest furniture clearance, tallest threshold and intended station location. Photograph rug fringe and unusual transitions. Compare these with the exact manual. Then price a year's plausible supply of compatible bags and filters rather than comparing purchase price alone.

Review app permissions, account requirements and map controls. No camera does not mean no map, no account or no cloud service. If offline operation matters, get explicit model-specific confirmation of which controls survive without internet access.

A robot is for maintenance pickup. For stairs, sofas and the car, see our handheld vacuum guide; for manual floor cleaning, compare cordless stick vacuums. Choose the jobs first and avoid buying two machines for the same unmet need.
